EXAMPLE REVIEW
STEP 1

Upload your bank statement.

Download a CSV or OFX statement from your online banking and drop it in. Cashew reads it, skips anything you've already uploaded, and checks the closing balance matches your books. No bank login needed.

STEP 2

Snap receipts. Send invoices.

Take a photo of a receipt and Cashew reads the supplier, date and VAT, then matches it to the right bank line. Invoices go out in seconds with a link to pay.

STEP 3

Approve only what's unclear.

Cashew files the routine transactions and shows a one-line reason for each. Anything it isn't sure about lands in one review list, where a swipe accepts or changes it.

What you get

The parts other software makes you pay extra for, or leaves out.

Warnings before cash runs short

Cashew looks at what's coming in and going out and tells you weeks ahead if a gap is coming. Included on every plan.

Statements that add up

Every upload is checked against the statement's closing balance, and Cashew reminds you when your books need a newer statement.

Plain English

"Money owed to you", not "accounts receivable". Five screens that never move. Your accountant gets the proper terms in accountant mode.

For shops that take card payments

Every card sale, sorted before you shut up shop.

Connect SumUp or Stripe once. Cashew reads every sale, fee and payout for you, and matches each payout to the money that lands in your bank.

  • Card sales, refunds and fees recorded automatically, with the fees counted as a cost
  • Each payout matched to the deposit on your bank statement, so nothing is counted twice
  • Cash takings added in seconds at the end of the day
  • Sales split by VAT rate for shops that sell zero-rated food alongside standard-rated goods

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Can't find what you're looking for? Ask us anything about plans, switching or how Cashew handles your data.

What is Cashew?

Cashew is accounting software for UK small businesses. It keeps your books up to date from your bank statements, receipts and invoices, prepares your VAT, and tells you in plain English what's happening with your money.

Do I need to understand accounting?

No. Cashew uses everyday words and does the routine sorting for you. Your accountant can switch to accountant mode, which shows the full ledger, journals and proper accounting terms.

How much does it cost, and is there a free trial?

Solo is £9.99 a month, Business £19.99 and Pro £34.99, all excluding VAT. Paying annually gives you about two months free. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial with no card needed.

Will the price go up after I join?

Founding customers keep their launch price for at least 12 months. We don't use teaser discounts that jump up later, so the price you see is the price you plan around.

Can I move from Xero or QuickBooks?

Yes, and moving is free on every plan. Cashew brings across your customers, suppliers, invoices, bills and opening balances, then checks the totals match before you switch over. You can keep your old software running alongside until you're happy.

Can my accountant use it?

Yes, free. Invite your accountant or bookkeeper and they get their own login. Practices get a free dashboard showing all their Cashew clients in one place.

How many people can use my account?

As many as you like. Every plan includes unlimited users, and you choose what each person can see and do.

Does Cashew work with Making Tax Digital?

Cashew is being built to keep digital VAT records and send VAT returns to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. We'll switch on HMRC submission once Cashew is recognised by HMRC, and we'll say so clearly when it is. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax support will follow.

Do I need to connect my bank account?

No. You download a statement from your online banking as a CSV or OFX file and upload it to Cashew. Cashew never asks for your banking login. Most UK business banks offer these downloads.

Automatic bank connections are planned for later, for anyone who'd rather not upload statements.

Can Cashew move money out of my account?

No. Cashew only reads the statements you upload. It has no access to your bank account and can't make payments. When customers pay your invoices by card or bank transfer, the payment goes through a regulated payment provider straight to your account.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, for iPhone and Android. It's built for quick jobs: snap a receipt, send an invoice, check your cash, review transactions, chase a late payer, or ask a question. Your full books are on the web.

Does Cashew work with SumUp and Stripe?

Yes, on every plan. Connect your SumUp or Stripe account once and Cashew reads your card sales, refunds, fees and payouts as they happen. Each payout is matched to the money arriving in your bank, so your takings are never counted twice.

Do you handle the second-hand margin scheme?

Yes, on the Business and Pro plans. If you sell second-hand goods such as used cars, Cashew keeps a stock book for each item and works out the VAT on the margin for each sale.

Does Cashew give tax advice?

No. Cashew is software. It explains its calculations so you can follow them, but for advice about your own situation, speak to your accountant. Cashew is built to work alongside them.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your books are yours. You can export everything at any time, and your records stay available to download after you cancel.

When can I start?

Cashew is in development now. A private beta with a small group of UK businesses comes first, then a paid beta, then public launch. Founding places open with the private beta.

Spend less time on the books. Know where you stand.

Founding customers lock in launch pricing and help shape what Cashew does next.
